Dear Grandmama

Sunday is the day I call home to talk to family. I usually end up calling them multiple times during the week too, but Sunday is the time when I call everyone. Mainly I call everyone, because I will go over to my brother's house who is also in Provo because we have Sunday dinners together, and then I use his phone, so that I don't have to use my minutes. Smart right! Ya, so this last Sunday after I had talked to pretty much everyone I called up my Grandma Beames to just check in with her and see how she was doing. I haven't talked to her in a while, but when I heared her voice, I realized how much I really missed her.

She is pretty much the best. Some of the first things she asked me after I told her college was good were, "So how are them boys? Are you shortening your skirt just a little bit?" Haha, she is awesome. This lady is like 80 plus years, and has a sense of humor like no other. And to just play along with her I'm like, "and the blouse too." Seriously not, but still it was kind of funny.

My grandpa died when I was a junior in high school. That was an extremely hard time for me. My grandma has also had a stroke before, and has had a lot of health problems since, but she is making it through. I have so many memories of me with my grandma, and I am glad that she is doing well. I really miss her and all that she has taught me. Even her humor, and her amazing cheating skills when it comes to card and board games.

When I grow up and have kids, I want them to know my grandparents. The past is something we can learn from. Especially the older generations... I am scared to death about the generations now days and their values. I don't think they are as strong as our elders. We need to be aware of things in society that are changing and remember the values that others have taught us. So heres to you grandma- I just wanna say thank you. You have been one of my best examples. You have taught me a lot and I want to be a grandma just like you some day. :)

  2. Beautiful post. Maybe you should write her history this summer so you can teach your children about her.
